FMP (Fluid Mixing Processes Industrial Consortium) is an industrially driven mixing research and design project, run continuously since 1983. It is owned and managed by BHR Group and funded and steered by industrial Members. The consortium’s members include fine, specialty and bulk chemicals, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, food and beverages, personal and household care and mixing equipment manufacturing companies in the UK, Europe, India, Japan, the Middle East and the USA.

The research programme of FMP includes physical and numerical modeling of single and multi-phase mixing processes, in impeller, jet and in-line mixers. The consortium’s knowledge is generated using actual industrial geometries under realistic process conditions. Reports and Design guides, including software tools include scale-up rules that can be confidently applied in developing processes from laboratory to pilot plant and full scale.
