FMP (Fluid Mixing Processes) is an industrial mixing research consortium that has run continuously since 1983.

The FMP consortium:

  • Is owned and managed by BHR Group
  • Is funded and steered by its industrial members
  • Carries out industrially relevant research with exploitable deliverables
  • Is independent, confidential and objective
  • Has a £0.75m annual research budget

The FMP research programme includes physical and numerical modelling of single and multi-phase mixing processes, in impeller, jet and in-line mixers.

FMP Information is generated using actual industrial geometries under realistic process conditions. Reports and Design guides, including software tools, include scale-up rules that can be confidently applied in developing processes from laboratory to pilot plant and full scale.

There are currently 17 Members from the Pharmaceutical, Personal Care, Fine, Specialty and Bulk Chemicals, Oil & Gas and Food & Drinks industries alongside 5 mixing equipment manufacturers and one CFD code vendor.
